Dear Pastor,
For over 15 years, LIFE has been actively working in Haiti under the direction of David and Judy Heady. Our mission partners survived the quake unscathed, but the country is in ruins.
Our hearts break as a result of the tragic pain and suffering of the people in Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake. Even as we witness the horror, we also see true expressions of Christian and human compassion. The first assessments come with a request for help in restoring water wells damaged by the earthquake, since clean water is a key to health, daily life and recovery. With the help of LIFE Today viewers and friends, we are already working to meet this need.
We are also responding with medical supplies for the mission clinic which is overflowing with the critically injured -- many suffering from broken bones and burns. Emergency items include general medical supplies, food, water, blankets, toiletries, soaps and disinfectants, towels and wipes, and clothing. PRAY for these workers -- they have given their lives to missions, and now crisis relief is a daily call.
We responded immediately, but the nation's recovery will be slow. We are called to share God’s love in word and deed, and I know God is speaking to us from Isaiah 58, asking us for a practical and spiritual commitment to help “restore the foundation and the walls” of this broken and battered nation. We invite you to join us this long term relief effort. I can assure you that Life Outreach will not only focus on effective ways to meet this crisis, but continue to work in Haiti long after this tragedy subsides.
Through focused love, compassion and guidance, God makes everything possible. Thank you for standing with us and unselfishly supporting effective organizations during these catastrophic circumstances. If we will adhere to God's word and extend His love, we can truly restore the foundations and rebuild the walls.
